ARC label EUCD1932. Macedonian Bellydance - featuring: Ferus Mustafov, Isin AguŠev - ‘Jambo’, Ilija Ampevski, Novica Sokolovski. CD Information in English, German and French.

Don't be misled by the "Bellydance" title - this is brilliant for Čoček and other Balkan Rom (Gypsy) line or circle dances (see suggestions list below).

TRACKLISTING - mp3 audio files are 30 sec. extracts at 128 Kbps.

1- FERUS MUSTAFOV: Paša Čoček 4'07'' (Ferus Mustafov)
2- ISIN AGUŠEV - ‘JAMBO’: Džemalovo Oro (Isin Agušev) 3'23''  Listen mp3

4- FERUS MUSTAFOV: Taso Peštrev 4'43'' (Ferus Mustafov)

SUGGESTED DANCES - my own personal suggestions for dances to fit some of the tracks (revised 08.02.06);

1- Paša Čoček. Sa (slow), Indijksi Čoček.
2- Dzemalovo Oro. Basic Čoček, Bitolsko Romsko.
3- Mister Čoček. Čoček with lifts (slow), Jeni Jol.
6- Saškov Čoček. Possibly Čoček with lifts?
7- Kocov Čoček. Raikos in 2/4?
8- Indisko Oro. Indijski Čoček (start dance with the melody).
9- Vesna Čoček. Bitolsko Romsko (slightly slow). Perhaps Čoček with lifts.
10- Erding Čoček. Čoček with lifts.
11- Ninin Čoček. Sa (slightly slow), Skopski Čoček.
12- Cigancica. Čoček with lifts. Perhaps Jeni Jol,

"Basic Čoček" here refers to the 6-step dance in 2/4, usually to syncopated music (slow-slow-quick, 3 beats, 3 beats, 2 beats) e.g. 3 steps back starting on right foot, touch left, step diagonally forward on left, touch right; alternatively 3 steps sideways to right also coming back (side right, cross left behind, side right), touch left, straight forward on left, touch right. Variation ad lib; replace each touch with two quick steps in place.

Synonyms for dance names;

Bitolsko Romsko aka Romsko Bitolsko, Romsko Bitolsko Oro. Taught by Paul Mulders as Čoček Za Merak - I suspect this is the name of the music he used.

Skopski Čoček aka Bitolska Gajda, Romska Gajda.
