SORRY, MY PAYMENTS SYSTEM DOES NOT TAKE SWITCH OR OTHER DEBIT CARDS. I wish it did, but getting any suitable payment system that did not cost a fortune in set-up costs was difficult enough! Let alone one based in the UK.....

HOW IT WORKS; BASICS

This is a very basic guide, particularly for those who are not used to online shopping.

The online shop on this website has two shopping pages, as well as this information page. The main page - the "shopfront" - has basic shopping information, brief news, etc., and also has neat essential oils for sale. A second page has base oils and cream, and ready-made massage oils and skin creams. Links at the top of all the shop pages will take you to the items you want, whichever page they are on.

When you click on a "Buy Now" link for an item, you will be transferred to the shopping cart page, which is operated by 2Checkout.com. There you can alter the quantity of the item you have ordered, and delete any items you have ordered by mistake or changed your mind about. If you do make any alterations, then press "save changes".

You can then press the "Continue Shopping" button on the checkout page - or alternatively press the "back" button on your browser - to return to the Aromatherapy Online Shop (i.e. this website), to browse and order further items from the same or different categories.

When you have ordered all you want, click on the "2CO Checkout" button at the shopping cart to complete the purchase - or on the "Check Out With PayPal" button if you want to use PayPal. If you are at the online shop page and want to check out and pay, use one of the "Check Out" links which are above and below all the sections of the page listing the goods.

When you finish shopping, you will be asked to fill in your personal details - name, shipping address, etc. NB If you have difficulty selecting your country, make sure you have selected "outside the US and Canada" from the "State or Province" drop-down box. Next you will be asked for your credit card details (Visa or Mastercard only for payment in GBP [pounds sterling]). There is also an option to pay via PayPal, or from your bank online via FXSource. This will all be done on secure pages operated by 2Checkout.com.

When you have done all this and checked all the details, you will be asked to confirm the purchase. At any time before this you can change your mind and leave - thus cancelling the transaction.

The shopping cart does not display the exact amount charged for shipping until you have completed the initial personal details on checking out (a common problem with shopping carts - but it needs to know which country you are in first!). But you can check rough charges first here on this website - see below.

Once you have confirmed the purchase, you should be sent to a page confirming the transaction was successful, and returned to my website. You will be sent an e-mail from 2Checkout with details of the purchase. If I am out of stock of any item and there will be a delay, I will e-mail to let you know. 2Checkout will also carry out a standard fraud check and - at least for new customers or large orders - I will not ship your order until they send me an e-mail saying it has passed the check. This sometimes takes 24 hours.

I will not enclose a printed receipt with your order unless requested. When the order is shipped, you will receive an e-mail from 2Checkout which should also act as your receipt.

Some of my prices are higher for online sales than for cheque payments sent by post. This reflects the commission I have to pay to 2Checkout for the shopping cart and credit card payment facility - some other sites can sell cheaper on the net due to lower overheads, but as I work from my home anyway I have low overheads to start with! I may add some writing later about the ethics (or otherwise) of credit cards. 2Checkout are based in the USA. There do not seem to be any British companies offering reasonable terms for internet trading to smaller traders.

Formally and legally, when you buy an item from me and are sent to the 2Checkout webpage, then at the time your payment is approved, I sell my goods to 2Checkout who simultaneously sell them to you. This is to cope with the fact that the goods originate with me but the money is going to 2Checkout, who will then pay me (minus commission, of course!). This is why the shop webpages carry the statement; "Goods and services provided by Paul Boizot Aromatherapy. Sold by 2CheckOut.com Inc. (Ohio, USA)."

To verify that traders are genuine, 2Checkout may contact customers from time to time to check that goods have actually been delivered, etc. You can view the 2CheckOut.com Privacy Policy (takes you off this website).

SHIPPING

UK DELIVERY is by first-class post for orders under approx. 3lb./1.25Kg; heavier orders will be sent parcel post or by carrier. More expensive orders may be sent by recorded delivery. Postage and packing charges are calculated based roughly on the weight of each item, including an allowance for packaging, and will be added automatically to your order. Minimum online order 5.00 excluding P&P unless order is for neat essential oils only.

** ** ROYAL MAIL CHARGES GO UP YET AGAIN APRIL 2008 and 2009 and 2010 and 2011. Postage also now varies with size of package as well as weight. The smallest orders thus cost much more to post than under the old system. My rates have had to increase again from 6 April 2011.

The UK SHIPPING RATE for orders under approx. 3lb./1.25Kg is set at £1.50 per order plus £1.75 per lb. weight of order.

All items are priced in sterling (GBP) on my website, but when you click to buy an item and go to the first 2Checkout page, it gives you the option to pay in selected other currencies, including Euros and US dollars. If you pay in US dollars, you can use some other credit cards as well as Mastercard and Visa.

SHIPPING TO EUROPE ZONE is set at 0.70 per order plus £4.60 per lb. weight (454g) of order. The UK Post Office's Europe Zone includes continental European countries, plus Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Spitzbergen (Svalbard & Jan Mayen Is.), Tajikstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

SHIPPING TO REST OF WORLD is set at 0.70 per order plus £5.80 per lb. weight (454g) of order. For reasons which are not clear to me, the 2Checkout software is not currently set up to process orders from Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, South Africa, Vietnam. I can add these countries manually if you e-mail me to request it, giving brief details of your order (but need to be certain of the genuineness of orders from Nigeria given all the e-mail scams that come from there!). I do not currently ship aromatherapy products to the USA. I can make arrangements to ship CDs.

(Note that weights of items given do not include the packaging of the order).

If you have a problem with any item, or any damage in transit, you must notify me within 5 days of receiving the order. I will usually give a refund if you are dissatisfied with an item, but it is up to you to know what it is that you are ordering! If in doubt, e-mail me first.
