Windows for Peace (UK) works with Windows - Channels for Communication (Windows CfC) in Israel and the Palestinian territories to promote dialogue and understanding amongst Jewish, Palestinian and Arab young people in the area, as well as the communities in the UK. It is a registered charity, and is not aligned to any political group or cause.

Helen O has recorded a CD of "Songs for Peace" in aid of Windows, accompanied by Marijan Rudel. The songs are from the Dances of Universal Peace and Circle Dance repertoires. The CD's cost £10 each plus £1 p&p for any number. £9.50 of each sale goes directly to the charity.

All the proceeds are being used specifically to help equip the new Windows centre in the Palestinian town of Tulkarem. So far they have transferred £1,000 to purchase a computer and internet link to give them a video conferencing facility. With the current difficulties of travel across the green line, this will be of major benefit in facilitating contact between the kids.

"At a time when so many of us feel despair at the inability of politicians and communities on both sides of the conflict to make any realistic progress towards peace, Windows offers us a chance to leapfrog the present impasse and support something creative with Palestinian and Israeli youth. These young people are able to show that there is indeed “someone to talk to on the other side”. They not only give an example to their elders, but also provide hope that the next generation of adults could learn that there is truly an alternative to violence."
